Farm machines, with Bosch Mobility

IRUM's farm and forestry machines run on a joint solution with Bosch Mobility.

Farm machines, with Bosch Mobility

c.technology started with boats on Swiss lakes. Since then the platform has connected electric outboards, scooters and motorcycles. Since April it also runs farm and forestry machines, from IRUM.

IRUM's machines run on a joint solution with Bosch Mobility. Our work with Bosch Mobility started in 2025, through Open Bosch, and this is where it reaches the field.

Who brings what

The work is split along what each company does. Bosch Mobility brings the hardware and the data. c.technology brings the platform and the apps on top of it.

Data from a vendor cloud such as Bosch Mobility's reaches the platform over HTTP push, each upload carrying a signed token. Nothing is polled. On our side a new source is a new receiver, and nothing above it changes.

That is the point of the split. Neither company builds what the other already has, and the manufacturer gets both halves working together.

The same record as a motorcycle

A forestry machine is not a motorcycle. It counts its work in hours more than in kilometres, and it spends its day on a slope instead of a road.

On the platform it still gets the same record: one current status and one history, with the fields only that machine has added on top. Its vehicle type decides what the screens show first, the thresholds for alerts and when a machine counts as offline. The record, the APIs and the permissions stay the same.

So every screen, report and API that works for a motorcycle or a boat works for a farm machine too. A new kind of vehicle is a new vehicle type, not a new platform.

The same partner access

A dealer or workshop that looks after a machine gets access the way any partner on the platform does: per vehicle, granted by the manufacturer, under the manufacturer's name. It sees the error code and the history before the work starts, and plans service on hours and distance instead of dates.

The rules do not change either. Where a machine is stays with its owner. A partner never sees another partner's machines, and a manufacturer never sees another manufacturer's.
